Tennessee Coach Terry Joseph Plays favorites

Disenfranchised?

An “insider” buried deep inside the Tennessee Football Program confirmed to LWS that Vol Secondary Coach Terry Joseph “does lean towards favorites..”.

Why does DB coach Terry Joseph, who by the way, has never played one down of college football play CB Marsalis Teague over Eric Gordon? How is he coaching at a major program? What is the career path to coaching for major program if you never played the sport? My insider said the players think that “Coach Joseph has even perfected the deer in the headlights look”. Family, work cornerstones for Terry Joseph » GoVolsXtra

Any untrained eye (Coach Joseph being the rare exception) can see that Gordon is better than Teague at the CB position. According to our insider “Gordon may have an attitude problem and whether he’s more talented or not that’ll get some players benched even if they do bring more to the table. Gordon is so bad at practice that the coaches just are too scared to play him”.

Look familiar?

Teague was successfully “picked on” by less than stellar QBs like Shaw, McCarron and Lee.  Looking through Teague’s ESPN player profile page [Marsalis Teague Stats, News, Videos, Pictures, Bio – Tennessee Volunteers – ESPN] I see nothing but zeros in the INT column.  Does anyone track how many plays that a cornerback gets burned?

The fact remains that our secondary is pathetic. Last Saturday the Gamecock receivers were running amok but their QB was so shitty he couldn’t hit the open receivers. Gordon should be on the field.

I’ve been trying to support Coach Dooley and I keep telling myself things will get better. But now after getting all of this “insider” nuggets…I don’t know. These calculated losses (UGA, UF, Bama, LSU and Carolina) in order to draw media attention so Tennessee can harvest the best recruits may be brilliant but it does have obvious risks. Only Coach Dooley would be smart enough to think of this strategy and the Big Orange Nation needs to get behind him and support him.

Are there any Tennessee fans out there? Send me some encouragement.

About Capers Bar

I am retired Army officer. I used to fly helicopters and airplanes while I was in the Army. Nowadays, I do other things that are not so cool and sexy. I decided to write about my journey or whatever you want to call it towards running a half-marathon this fall. I have been running since 1983, I have run the Duke City full and half marathons. I don't run that fast anymore, I did win a 10K when I was 21, those days are mercifully past me. The fastest mile I have turned is a 5:05 during one of those Army physical fitness test 2 mile runs. The point I am making is that I am old, slow, and experienced runner. I named the blog after my running buddy, Bandit, an Australian Blue Heeler. He is my 3rd K-9 running buddy, the previous two dogs were black labs. I hope to write about some of my discussions that I have with Bandit in the future. I once owned, but since sold and a satirical and irreverent sports blog that was moderately successful. I was published in the left-wing national sports media by Sports Illustrated and ESPN. I am "stuck" in Alabama working for a military contractor. I am working so fricking hard to get back to Southeast New Mexico or West Texas. Fingers and toes crossed.
