Monday Morning QB Talking Points: Post Bama

The SEC is a great conference, and 8th in the league is nothing to sneeze at. Dooley has done a spectacular job in every facet of coaching, particularly not letting pointless and useless 2nd half adjustments interfere with the overall game plan strategy of “Finishing Strong”.   Dooley has been tinkering and  tweaking the offense so that when the time comes he can unleash the Vols on all of the nation  ya’ll will see the brilliance soon.  Last week it was T. Poole he got in gear, this week he got the kicker thing back to normalcy and next week he will make sure the other team does not pay the umpires.  Remember Vols,  A watched pot never boils.

  • Who does Tennessee play next? Please let it be South Carolina or MTSU. We need a ‘W’, ASAP.
  • Where are the naysayer’s now?  Lou Groza Award front-runner Michael Palardy was a juggernaut.  Not a lot of extra points these days, but those 3 pointers  have been MONEY
  • I don’t know for sure but it seems like folks are giving QB Matt Simms such  a hard time and all he has done is go play his heart out ever week. (He may want to consider not throwing the ball so hard).  His dad played pro ball, so STFU.  Dooley will fix it.
  • Where are all the “fans” that questioned Tennessee’s second half defensive adjustments?  Change is overrated. Dooley can’t give the appearance of wavering  and looking weak to his players.  Dooley ain’t weak.   Dooley uses halftime for “nurturing”, not adjusting strategy.
  • People are doing a lot of talking about how bad Tennessee looked against Bama in the 2nd half.  Those people don’t know football.  Very few saw how well Bama played
  • Big Orange Nation! stay encouraged! Remember last week’s news conference when Coach Dooley said, “someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted some bamboo a long time ago.” it’s like coach Dooley is watering that bamboo…one day they will grow up and the Vols will be on top of the SEC again. everyone else will be in our shadow again.
  • Tennessee has a real good chance to  win the rest of the way and be in the another prestigious Pre-New Years Day Bowl  … mark my words.  Everything is going just as planned by Dooley!

About Capers Bar

I am retired Army officer. I used to fly helicopters and airplanes while I was in the Army. Nowadays, I do other things that are not so cool and sexy. I decided to write about my journey or whatever you want to call it towards running a half-marathon this fall. I have been running since 1983, I have run the Duke City full and half marathons. I don't run that fast anymore, I did win a 10K when I was 21, those days are mercifully past me. The fastest mile I have turned is a 5:05 during one of those Army physical fitness test 2 mile runs. The point I am making is that I am old, slow, and experienced runner. I named the blog after my running buddy, Bandit, an Australian Blue Heeler. He is my 3rd K-9 running buddy, the previous two dogs were black labs. I hope to write about some of my discussions that I have with Bandit in the future. I once owned, but since sold and a satirical and irreverent sports blog that was moderately successful. I was published in the left-wing national sports media by Sports Illustrated and ESPN. I am "stuck" in Alabama working for a military contractor. I am working so fricking hard to get back to Southeast New Mexico or West Texas. Fingers and toes crossed.

  1. I hope you beat the crap out of Alabama. It’s a long shot, I know, but still.
