The House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee will draft its version of the FY2012 Defense Authorization bill next week. The full Armed Services Committee is expected to take up the bill the following week.
Now is the time to contact your U.S. representative and ask for their support to include provisions in the defense bill that would address the following MOAA priorities:
* Protect the currently serving force against manpower cuts and pay raise cutbacks
* Cap any future percentage increase in TRICARE fees at the retired pay COLA percentage
* Make progress toward ending unfair compensation penalties imposed on thousands of disabled retirees, military survivors, and Guard/Reserve warriors

The House Armed Services Committee will begin crafting the all-important Defense Authorization Bill next week. With only a small window before key defense issues are considered now is the time to contact Congress.
Please take a few minutes and send the letter below encouraging your Representative to support key Military issues.
I am writing to ask your help in including several key issues in the upcoming FY2012 Defense Authorization Bill.
Please do all that you can to ensure the bill:
1.) Recognizes in law servicemembers’ heavy pre-paid premiums of service/sacrifice and caps future TRICARE fee increases at the COLA percentage
2.) Prevents any cuts to the force or pay raise for troops/families in this 10th year of war
3.) Reduces and ultimately ends compensation penalties affecting disabled military retirees and military widows and early retirement credit shortfalls for Guard and Reserve warriors.
I very much appreciate your support in seeking to address these problems in the upcoming defense bill.
